International Road Transport Operations in Croatia
Operational Activities
Cabotage
UK hauliers may carry goods to, through or from the country, goods can also be carried from Croatia to a third country if the required
authorisation to do so is obtained. However, cabotage is not permitted.
Dangerous Goods
Croatia is party to the ADR agreement. Be advised that there are specific parking areas for DG carrying vehicles unless limited quantities
are carried. There are restrictions for the transport of dangerous goods of Classes 1, 2, 3, 6.1, 7 and 8 on specific routes, therefore
clarification is advised prior to departure.
Abnormal Loads
Special authorisation must be obtained if vehicles/loads exceed maximum permitted weights and dimensions. For help and

Taxation
Transit tax is payable based upon gvw multiplied by the number of kms travelled. A full tank of fuel can be imported duty free.
Customs
TIR Carnets are accepted. ATA Carnets are accepted for certain temporary imported goods. CMR notes are recognised.
Movement Restrictions

Road, Tunnel & Bridge Tolls
In Croatia, all road users are subject to road tolls, which are levied at the toll booths. Drivers can pay in cash, credit cards or
cheques. There is also an ETC (electronic toll collection) which device can be purchased, with credit being loaded in advance making it a
rapid cashless payment system using special ETC lanes (similar to other parts of Europe).

Road tolls are charged by vehicle category (IA - IV), the interpretation of each category is outlined in more detail below.

- IA Motor vehicles with the properties of motorcycles, three-wheelers and four-wheelers
- I Motor vehicles with two axles up to the 1.30 m measured at first axle except for motor vehicles from II b) category
- II a) Motor vehicles with three or more axles up to 1.30 m measured at first axle,
b) Motor vehicles with two axles greater than 1.90 m, and the maximum permissible weight does not exceed 3,500 kg - III Motor vehicles with two or three axles, with the height above 1.30 m measured at first axle with the maximum permissible weight over 3,500 kg and motors vehicles listed under II b) with trailers
- IV Motor vehicles with four or more axles with the height greater than 1.30 m measured at first axle with the maximum permissible weight of over 3,500 kg
Bridges and Tunnels
There are two bridges and one tunnel which are tolled, these are:
- Krcki Most (Kirk Bridge) - Part of the Adriatic Highway (European route E65)
- Mirna Bridge - A9 motorway in Istria
- Ucka Tunnel - B8 expressway

Documentation
Green Card required, plus original vehicle registration docs. A GB plate must be fitted to rear of vehicle/trailer.

Safety Equipment
It is compulsory to carry snow chains during winter conditions (5cm of snow or road covered in ice), vehicles without winter equipment will
be denied entry. Other requirements include:-
- Dipped headlights
- Fire Extinguisher
- Wheel Chocks
Driver Requirements
Legal Documents
Full passport required but no visa required. International driving licence is required. Letter from employer giving driver permission to
drive vehicle - Attestation letter and form.
